Plans have been unveiled for a new stadium in Riyadh with a capacity of 92,000 spectators, set to be built on a 660,000 square meter site. The King Salman Stadium will feature a range of premium seating, including a 150-seat royal suite, 120 hospitality suites, 300 VIP seats, and 2,200 additional seats reserved for dignitaries.
Located on King Salman Road adjacent to King Abdulaziz Park and near King Khalid International Airport, the stadium will serve as the home ground for Saudi Arabia’s national football team. The project is a collaboration between the Royal Commission for Riyadh City and the Ministry of Sport.
In addition to the stadium, the site will include extensive sports facilities such as a 9km running track, training fields, a closed sports hall, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, an athletics track, and outdoor courts for volleyball and basketball. The complex will also feature indoor screens, gardens, and a rooftop walking track.
Sustainable cooling systems will be integrated to ensure comfort for both athletes and spectators.
The stadium is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2029, as announced by Saudi Arabia’s news agency.
