Red Sea Global (RSG) has made significant strides in the development of Turtle Bay Hospital, a cutting-edge healthcare facility situated in The Red Sea’s Turtle Bay area. This hospital will cater to the needs of the community residing in, working at, and visiting the 1.5 million m² waterfront destination.
Anticipating the arrival of around 300,000 guests annually once the first phase of resorts is completed next year, Turtle Bay will eventually support a workforce of about 14,000 employees and their families. These individuals will benefit from convenient access to high-quality healthcare services.
A key milestone has been reached with RSG securing approval from the Ministry of Health (MOH) for the hospital’s design. This achievement is particularly notable as it is the first project funded by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to receive such architectural approval from the MOH, marking a significant development for the project.
Nicholas King, Group Chief Development Officer at Red Sea Global, commented, “Receiving this approval is a major accomplishment for our team, who are dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare at The Red Sea. Our goal for Turtle Bay Hospital is to establish a state-of-the-art facility, integral to our larger vision of creating a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem for our expanding project portfolio.”
King emphasized, “The health and well-being of our guests and employees are paramount. We are committed to showcasing Saudi capabilities and are excited to collaborate with several Saudi partners for the construction, operation, and supply of medical equipment. We look forward to the completion of Turtle Bay Hospital, which is set to open at the end of next year.”
The construction contract for the new hospital has been awarded to Abdullah Saeed Alsayed & Partners Contracting Company, with work expected to begin shortly. The operational responsibilities were assigned in early 2022 to Steward Alf Global Healthcare Company, a joint venture between Saudi-based Alfanar’s healthcare division and international healthcare leader Steward Health Care International.
Additionally, Alf Healthcare was awarded the contract for medical equipment earlier this year. The hospital will provide a range of primary and secondary care services, including diagnostics, internal medicine, cardiology, urology, orthopedics, women’s health, and emergency care, among others.
Given The Red Sea’s status as a premier diving destination, the hospital will also feature a hyperbaric chamber as part of its Emergency Department, ensuring top-notch primary treatment for diving incidents and barotrauma injuries.
In other healthcare updates, the architecture plans for The Red Sea International Airport Clinic have also received MOH approval. Construction of this urgent care clinic is progressing well and is expected to be operational by December this year, having already surpassed 60% completion.
Furthermore, construction began in March this year on a hospital within the AMAALA Staff Village. This project, also contracted to Abdullah Saeed Alsayed & Partners Contracting Company, is slated for completion by late 2025, with the sub-structure already finished.
By 2030, The Red Sea is set to feature 50 resorts with up to 8,000 hotel rooms and over 1,000 residential properties across 22 islands and six inland sites. The destination will also offer luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment, dining, and leisure facilities.
